How can I help you to find the right path for your education?
My vocation to teaching has never wavered: even as a Headmaster, I continued to teach and am thrilled to help minds develop. Since my retirement, I have offered specialist classes at leading State and Independent schools. I also offer individual tutorials and arrange tutorials with suitably qualified practioners, across a range of disciplines. Some pupils see me once or twice, others arrange regular tutorials as they build up to university entrance or A level exams.
The students below are all recent and real, although I have changed their names. Please contact me, if you’d like to have an initial conversation by phone.

Need to build confidence?
David was a shy boy at a very well-known & prestigious prep school. The school has amazing results, but David was intimidated by not being in the so called ‘top stream’. He felt behind the pack and mum and dad believed he was losing confidence. I met with David and, through bespoke tutoring, helped him realise how good he really was. He began to believe in himself and approached his 11+ interviews with a newfound confidence.
Embracing the challenge!
Samantha was facing the demands of Cambridge entry tests. She and her parents felt she was going off the boil and actually had lost her passion for the subject. They also felt the school had left things a little late. Samantha met with me and through a series of tutorials I helped her recalibrate her preparation and see the tests as an exciting challenge not a burden.
Developing other skills.
Shauna was an aspiring medic; she was secure in her scientific knowledge but intimidated by the essays demanded by the BMAT. She was desperate to develop her ability to answer these with confidence. I helped her through individual tuition and a careful diet of suitable reading.
What should I read at uni?
Andrew was a Lower Sixth former, not sure if he wanted to read Law or PPE or SPS. He decided the best way to make up his mind was to have one-to-one Zoom lessons every two weeks where we discussed questions which he might expect, whichever he finally chose. I also arranged for him to speak to university students in each discipline.
Do you need an objective assessment?
John was in a panic about his looming A level Philosophy exams. He felt there were gaps and his relationship with his A level teacher had gone sour. His parents wanted an objective assessment of his essays and some extra lessons to reboot his approach.
Specialist Economics teacher.
Amir was hoping to read Economics and Management, at Oxford. He felt that his school lacked an expert teacher who could push him sufficiently in the build-up to the entry tests and possible interviews. We met on Zoom for a generic interview, and I then arranged for him to have a series of enrichment sessions with a first-rate, experienced, specialist Economics teacher.
Personal statement advice?
Jennifer had transferred from her single-sex girls’ school to a mixed Sixth Form school. When it came to university entrance, she has a collapse in confidence about her personal statement and what work to submit. Though she liked her new school, she did not feel the staff really knew her. She wanted a fresh set of eyes to advise her on her personal statement. When she eventually secured her interview at Oxford, she asked for mock interviews with me and then a subject specialist.
Changing schools at 16+!
Richard was at a school which ended in year 11. He was desperate to transfer to a leading London day school. His Headmaster wanted him to experience the kind of 16+ interview process he would encounter. I met with Richard and ensured that he could approach the series of interviews with confidence.
What about mock interviews?
Andrew had secured interviews with six demanding London day schools. He was provided with mock interviews by his very good prep school, but felt they had become repetitive. He was keen to be interviewed by someone who did not know him but knew the kind of testing he might experience. He met with me and another teacher for a series of ‘mock’ interviews’; we had both, in previous posts, actually interviewed in three of the schools to which he had applied!
Nervous about exams?
Shahla was a gifted student. Her university offers were outstanding, but rather than that giving her confidence, she became increasingly nervous as her A level exams approached and she was needing to jump the final hurdles. Her sense of wellbeing was suffering. Shahla and her parents sought advice on how she might develop strategies to lessen her nervousness and meet her targets.
The following are some of the reactions that pupils have kindly sent me.
Please let me know if you’d like to read any letters of endorsement in full.
“Paul Keyte taught me while I was a student at Dulwich College. I found his teaching to be inspirational and a superb preparation for examinations. I am myself now intimately involved in the Oxford admissions process and I have full confidence in his ability to prepare candidates excellently for the current tests we devise. The pool of happy occasions I draw on when reflecting on my time at Dulwich are indelibly associated with Paul Keyte.” Dr Arhat Virdi
“I was so grateful for Paul's time and care while I was preparing for my Cambridge interview. He provided practical advice, but also encouraged my curiosity and built my confidence, at a very difficult time. I am much indebted to him!” Hannah Mills
“Paul had a profoundly positive impact on my education and development, during my formative years. As his pupil, I found him to be a dedicated and thoughtful teacher, who always encouraged us to think in new ways and was genuinely invested in seeing each student reach their full potential.” Alex Tam
"Paul Keyte is an undoubtedly an expert in his field, as his wealth of experience testifies. He has the rare capacity to provide timely and accurate insight. As a former student, I always found his easy manner and academic friendship a fantastic support.” Jane Cahill
“Mr. Keyte possesses a unique teaching style that strikes the perfect balance between being challenging and engaging, without ever becoming pushy. He cares deeply about the success of each individual, not solely in terms of passing exams or achieving high grades, but also in nurturing a genuine passion for the subject matter. He creates an environment where students are encouraged to think critically, explore concepts deeply, and express their thoughts freely. I would unreservedly recommend his services to anyone seeking advice.” Annabel Gross
