How can I help you to find the right path for your child?

My experience, expertise and network of contacts enable me to advise on a wide range of questions which will preoccupy you as parents wanting to ensure your child’s academic and personal potential are fully realised and nurtured. I can offer advice on schools and also offer bespoke tutoring for 11+, Scholarship, and Oxbridge.

Where I cannot help personally, I have a team of specialists and contacts I can also call upon to work with parents and families. Throughout my career, I have delivered specialist one-to-one tutorials, but have also directed candidates to outstanding teachers in the subjects for which they have applied.

At 11+ level, I can meet with you and your child, offer advice on entrance requirements and provide mock interviews. These are followed up with detailed written advice tailored to the need of the individual child.

Pupils applying for scholarships can be offered bespoke lessons fine-tuned to the specifics of the exams they will be facing. My team comprises teachers and ex-teachers from the top schools and universities in the country.

Parents whose children are interested in prizes such as the John Locke Prize or Harvard Prize Essay competitions or having to do the plethora of entry tests such as: LNAT; HAT; BMAT; MAT; etc., can be offered advice and linked to tutors able help their children face the challenges with confidence.

The stories below are all recent and real, although I have changed their names. Please contact me, if you’d like to have an initial conversation by phone.

Moving to the UK?

David and Jennifer had just moved to London from Singapore. Their son had been at an international school and was in Year 5. They needed to choose a prep school suitable for their son. They believed their son was good enough to enter any top day or boarding school, in Y6 or Year 9, but did not know the London and wider market.

Best fit for bilingual pupils?

Maximillian and Sabina’s parents were not originally from the UK and baffled by the plethora of entry requirements of UK schools. Both were educated in Germany. They had come to London and were trying to find a best fit for their son and daughter who were both bilingual.

Scholarship preparation?

Erik’s parents knew their son was able and a potential scholar for Eton, Westminster, and Winchester. Their son had offers from all three schools. They sought advice on each school but also on how best to plan ahead for their son’s scholarship preparation.

Seeking a second opinion?

Emily and Simon’s son Toby was very able but a fragile and nervous child. He was in Year 5 at a reputable school. Mum and dad loved the school and respected the Head, but wanted to get a second opinion on where best to send their son for his Senior School.

Independent or State school?

Ahmed and Indira did not go to independent schools. They had a gifted child who was offered 11+ places at leading State and Independent schools. They solicited advice on the best fit for them as parents and their son.

IB or A levels?

Jonny’s mum and dad were between a rock and a hard place. Their son had been offered places at day and boarding schools. In addition, they had to decide between schools offering IB and A levels and both. They wanted dispassionate advice from people who had an overview.

Informed choice

Ilan had been diagnosed as having an ADHD profile in Year 3. His parents were moving to new jobs in London, having been based in the US. His mum and dad wanted advice on schools, in or outside of London, which would be best able to nurture their son.

Gaining confidence!

Tracey’s parents were convinced that their daughter in Y11 was highly able but in a school where the calibre of the pupils had dented her confidence. She was at the point of choosing A levels. They felt that sessions with an outside tutor would bolster her confidence and enable her to choose her A levels more rationally.

Should we change schools?

Ben’s parents were concerned that their son was not being sufficiently stretched at his Prep school. He was very happy and the pastoral care outstanding, but they felt the school lacked academic ambition and drive. They were loath to move him from a kind environment where he had made good friendships but felt he needed stretching. They sought advice on appropriate learning enrichment.

Is Oxbridge possible?

Jo’s mum and dad had a daughter who was tipped to be good enough for Oxbridge. However, her school did not have the specialist teachers who could prepare her for an application in Modern Languages and Philosophy. We provided both.

The following are some of the supportive words that parents have kindly sent me.
Please let me know if you’d like to read any letters of endorsement in full.

“Paul has the ability to spot and develop the potential in every child because he genuinely cares about the individual.  He is an inspirational teacher with a genuine passion for whatever he teaches. To parents, he offers humour, kindness and positivity.  If you have a lesson with him, you won’t forget it, because your student will learn what’s on the menu but most importantly they will learn how to think.” Liza Green

"In our experience, Paul has consistently delivered exceptional results, and his commitment to nurturing educational excellence is truly commendable. We wholeheartedly endorse his services for anyone seeking expert guidance and support in the educational field. His dedication and expertise have had a profound impact on the development and advancement of our children." Roberto Ratti and Giovanna Annessa

“He has a real talent for seeing the qualities that make each child unique  (even when these are invisible to the child, or his teachers and parents) and in bringing out these qualities by challenging them playfully to get them to engage with a love of knowledge and learning. Pretty rare in education these days. My children were incredibly lucky and I can't recommend him highly enough.”  Nili Newman

My 17 year old had the pleasure to meet with Paul for a few sessions before applying to Cambridge. Each meeting resulted in a buzz of new ideas, elevating his confidence as a critical thinker. Cambridge was not to be, but the challenging and thoughtful conversations about philosophy and theology have proven a great springboard to future success at University and beyond. I can highly recommend Paul to any curious young minds looking to unlock lateral lines of thinking.” Ashley Serr

“ I have never met a teacher who conveyed such a strong sense of belief in the ability of education to transform lives. I always went away from a conversation with Paul inspired about my children’s education and future.”  Justin Alford
